Every restaurant, bar and liquor store that sells alcohol in California has to apply to the state's ABC for its license, and ABC publishes each application in a daily report. Every Monday, we send you the new places, changes of owner and moves in your part of LA County, plus City of LA build-out permits, often weeks before a new place opens. You're the only company of your type who gets that list for your zone.

Left out: partner, stock and trustee changes on an existing license, and one-day event permits. Build-out permits cover the City of LA only; elsewhere in the county, new places show up through their liquor-license applications.

Everything comes from the public record, with the spreadsheet (CSV) attached for your CRM.
What's happening
A new license, a change of owner or a move, with the license type: beer and wine or a full bar, at a restaurant, bar or store. For build-outs, the permit's scope and value.
Who
The business name the place will use, and the licensee: the company or person applying.
Where
The address of the place itself. ABC and permit records don't include phone numbers or email addresses.
When
The day the application was filed or the permit issued, with the ABC license or permit number and a link to the ABC record.
How you use the list
These are businesses, so you can visit, mail, email and call them. A few rules keep that legal and keep the list worth having.

Questions
Where does the data come from?
California's Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) publishes every new license application in a daily public report. We add City of Los Angeles building permits for restaurant, cafe, bakery and bar spaces, which are public records too.
Is every lead a new place?
No. About half of the license applications are new places, including licenses bought and moved to a new address, which is how most new bars and liquor stores open. Most of the rest are changes of owner: an existing place being sold, whose new owner sets up their own accounts and vendors. Your list puts openings first and says which is which.
How early is it?
ABC can't issue a license until a notice has been posted at the place for 30 days, and approval usually takes longer, so a new place usually shows up on your list weeks before it opens. City permits reach us about a week after they're issued.
What about restaurants that don't serve alcohol?
They show up through build-out permits, which cover the City of LA. Elsewhere in the county, only the places applying for a liquor license are on the list.
Is there a phone number or email?
No. ABC and permit records have the business name, the licensee and the address. For a place that's already open, the phone number is usually easy to find; for one that's still opening, a visit or a letter works best.
What's in my first list?
Everything that fits your seat from the last 30 days, all on your first Monday, in the spreadsheet. After that, you get the new ones every Monday.
What if my buyer type is already taken in a zone?
We'll tell you before you're charged, and put you on the waitlist for that zone.
What do I get for staying?
After your first paid month, a one-time bonus list comes with your next Monday list: filings and permits from 31 to 90 days ago. From then on, the other zone is $99 a month instead of $149. And every 12 months you stay, the next month is free.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, in full, if your seat turns out to be taken, or if you ask before your first list is sent. After that, payments aren't refundable, because your whole first list arrives on that first Monday. You can still cancel anytime, and you keep your lists through the month you paid for.
Can I cancel?
Yes, anytime. There's no contract. You keep getting your lists until the end of the month you paid for.
